Who we are
Nevada Basketball Academy is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping aspiring basketball players of all skill levels unlock their full potential. Our primary goal is to provide young athletes with a safe, enjoyable basketball experience that prioritizes both short and long-term individual development - both on and off of the court.
Our organization has served the young women of Northern Nevada for over twenty years, and we have an outstanding track record of helping those players earn athletic scholarships at all levels of college basketball, saving the parents of our community hundreds of thousands of dollars in tuition fees in the process.
Nevada Basketball Academy gives girls and their families the opportunity to not only play with and against the highest-level talent on the West Coast, but also to train with former WNBA and FIBA professional head coach, NVBA Executive Director Walt Hopkins.
Coach Hopkins has a glowing track record of developing basketball players at every level--ranging from youth to the Olympic and professional ranks--while also utilizing dual master's degrees in Education from Harvard University and UC Berkeley, where he studied various branches of Psychology, as well as Motivation and Coaching Theory - all of which deeply inform his ability to provide college prep, recruiting advice, and academic tutoring services to all of the young women whom he coaches.
As a Sparks, NV native, Coach Hopkins returned home to not only raise the level of girls basketball in Northern NV, but also to share the mindset, habits, and best practices that he developed and personally used to find academic, athletic, and professional success.
